The Ethos and Aims of the School PDF Print

Eating Lunch OutisdeThis is a time of enormous social change, where poor diet and lifestyle habits have led to many previously rare diseases becoming very common. In response to this high level of illness, many people are once again becoming interested in learning how to look after their own health, including eating a healthy diet, exercising regularly, clearing limiting emotional patterns; leading to a creative and fulfilling life.

The International Macrobiotic School trains practitioners to help individuals and groups make this transformation to a healthier way of living. We aim to give a holistic training in healing on the four levels of human life, the physical and energetic, emotional, mental and spiritual.

"We put a strong emphasis on students’ own development of physical health, emotional maturity, and spiritual awareness."

On the physical and energetic level we make extensive use of the macrobiotic approach to healing, through the use of diet, cooking, special healing recipes and teas, compresses and lifestyle changes, plus a basic understanding of shiatsu.

On the emotional and mental levels we use humanistic counselling to heal and integrate limiting emotions held from past experiences. There is also study of our spiritual needs, and how to align our lives with both our individual life purposes, and with the greater world of spirit.

In ClassTo train truly holistic practitioners, we put a strong emphasis on students’ own development of physical health, emotional maturity, and spiritual awareness. We give a lot of individual support to help this development, and to create mature practitioners who can offer true healing, not just knowledge and techniques, but also a wisdom of the nature of life, the challenges of being human, and a deep compassion for others.

In our education we also aim to bridge traditional energetic medicine with modern approaches to healing. As well as studying the energetically based medical approach of the East, we include study of Western anatomy, physiology and pathology, western nutrition, a modern approach to emotional counselling, and the professional ethics common to all therapeutic approaches.
