The First Year course is a complete in-depth course for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of healing for their own use, and is also a foundation for the further two years of study to reach a professional level in various macrobiotic healing arts. At the end of the Second Year course, you will qualify as a Macrobiotic Cook & Health Advisor, and be able to cook for individuals, families and groups in a wide range of situations, and be able to give general advice, talks and classes on achieving a healthy diet and lifestyle. At this stage many of our students begin using their skills to help others, and start building a career with their macrobiotic knowledge. At the end of the Third Year course you will qualify as a Macrobiotic & Life Counsellor, and be able to give individual consultations to help individuals with a variety of illnesses recover their health, resolve emotional issues, and take steps We have chosen an on-going format for our courses so that personal development and the learning of a whole variety of cooking, Oriental diagnostic, interviewing and counselling skills can happen step by step over each year. While a lot can be taught with an intensive format, this does not give the time for practicing and developing skills under the guidance of teachers, and for on-going self-development work.
Classes have a maximum of 16 students, with a team of exercise, cooking, theory and personal development teachers, giving a high degree of personal tuition and guidance. We set up an internet group for each course, so that students can support each other between modules, and for communication with course tutors. Each module begins with supper on the first evening, and ends on the afternoon of the last day. Three delicious meals are provided each day, using the best quality organic foods wherever possible. Courses are residential. |

We run a training over three years, divided into a First, Second and Third Year course, each of approximately 240 hours of teaching time, with extra optional activities, making a minimum of 700 hours of teaching for the whole course. Each year consists of 7 or 8 modules of 3 to 6 days spread over the year, with home study and practical projects to complete between modules. There are written and practical assessments at the end of each year.
