Deep-Fried Onion Rings

Delicious onion rings made with arrowroot and spelt flour, crispy, golden, and perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

  • Onions (2) – cut into rings
  • Arrow root (2 tbsp)
  • Spelt flour (or other flour) (1 cup)
  • Sparkling water (1/4 cup)
  • Herb salt (1/2 tsp)
  • Sunflower oil for deep frying

Method

Step 1

Make the batter by mixing together the arrow root, flour and herb salt. Add in the sparkling water and mix well.

Step 2

Dip in the onion rings and deep fry until golden and crispy.

Step 3

Remove from oil and place on kitchen paper before serving.

The Perfect Dipping Sauce

These are super yummy served with a shoyu and brown rice vinegar dipping sauce. To make it, add a 2 dessert spoons of shoyu (or tamari if you are gluten free), 1 dessert spoon of brown rice vinegar & 2 dessert spoons of water.
