Course Overview
Do You Suffer from Allergies or Autoimmune Problems?
Airborne allergies like hay fever were rare 100 years ago, but started rising rapidly from the 1970’s onwards, and in the last 20 years have increased three fold in the UK!
Food allergies in toddlers, children and adults are also increasing exponentially,
again these were rare in the past, but so many children and adults are now suffering with these. The rise is so rapid that this cannot be caused by genetic changes, so it must be caused by a change in diet and lifestyle. The modern diet including many highly processed foods is very damaging to our intestines, and they become weak barriers to the proteins in various foods. These allergens then get into the body, which thinks it is being attacked, and so sets up an immune response, creating symptoms like pain, bloating and diarrhoea.
Rather than just avoiding the particular foods creating a reaction, food allergies can be diminished or healed by improving the health of the gut and its lining, to return to a strong boundary to the gut contents.
In the last decade or two, more and more illnesses are being found to include an autoimmune response, where a part of the immune system attacks the body’s own cells, causing inflammation and damage. Examples include rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, intestinal problems like ulcerative colitis, coeliac and Crohn’s disease, certain thyroid disorders causing under- or over-activity, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes.
Western medicine currently sees the immune system as the main cause of these problems, and is creating drugs to suppress or alter the immune response. Strangely, some of these health problems can be healed with dietary and lifestyle changes, suggesting that the autoimmune response is not the original cause of these problems, but quite possibly a result of a deeper underlying disease process.
By addressing these deeper causes, the autoimmunity can be healed, rather than attempting to subdue the immune response.
Class One – airborne allergies
- Types of airborne allergies including hay fever, dust, mite and pet allergies.
- What is causing the body to over-react to these substances?
- How to heal these allergies by strengthening the body’s defences, to stop these entering the body and triggering an allergic reaction.
Class Two – food allergies
- Common foods triggering allergies.
- Severe allergies including anaphylaxis.
- The importance of a healthy microbiome.
- How to improve the health of your gut and strengthen it’s defences, so the body does not need to react to food allergens.
Class Three – autoimmune diseases
- What are autoimmune diseases – how the body’s immune system is reacting and damaging its own tissues.
- Why the immune system starts attacking the body’s own cells.
- Is the immune system really the cause of these diseases, or just a symptom of a deeper problem?
- How to heal a range of common so called ‘autoimmune diseases’ including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
