Course Overview

With an interest in medicine and a degree in zoology, I started studying traditional Oriental medicine 45 years ago, and it blew me away with its deep understanding of health, illness and healing. It impressed me so much that I started my lifetime study and practice of macrobiotics, a 20th century practical update of traditional health practices, as well as Chinese medicine, emotional healing and mindfulness.

This approach is centred on the selection and cooking of food as a core tool for promoting health and the healing of many diseases, hence ‘Nutritional Therapy’. It could also be called Culinary Medicine, the art of preparing specific foods, dishes, teas and compresses for healing. Using food to heal as practiced by the ancient Greeks (“Let food be your medicine and your medicine be food”) widely in China and Asia, is a powerful form of healing, as is now being evidenced by modern nutritional research.

And the ‘Holistic’ bit? Food alone is a powerful healer, but so are lifestyle changes, exercise and bodywork, emotional healing, and connecting to our core spiritual being. A wonderful aspect of traditional Oriental medicine is that it has always seen these different aspects of human life as being intimately connected as part of a whole, and so can be used in combination for creating a happier healthier life, as well as healing many health problems.

In this series of three classes I will be explaining how to use this holistic approach as a way to increase your health and wellbeing, and heal many common health problems. This will also be a great introduction to using Holistic Nutritional Therapy professionally as a stand alone career, or as an add on to other therapies such as emotional counselling, physiotherapy, yoga, shiatsu, reflexology and Qi Gong.

What you'll get

  • How to create health in five areas of your life
  • The power of food to heal many common health problems
  • Simple Do-in exercises for physical and mental health
  • How to create a balanced and health promoting lifestyle
  • Free yourself from old emotional wounds and become your authentic self
  • Connecting to your inner self for life guidance, peace and joy
  • There will be some space for you to ask questions and for personal health advice

The course served as a perfect introduction to macrobiotic and oriental thinking, offering a strong base for further studies and packed with plenty of practical information. The group environment was open and supportive and made learning enjoyable and relatable.
