Course Overview

Do you feel a deep desire to help people become happier and healthier using a holistic approach the life? Would you like to contribute to creating a more sane world where people know how to take care of their own physical health and emotional wellbeing?

If you do then join this weekend to gain confidence and skills in communicating macrobiotic ideas and practical living skills!  This course can be taken on its own, or as part of a wider Teacher Training Programme including assisting teachers on IMS courses with personal tutoring on teaching skills. What you will learn

The aim of this course is for you to learn all the skills necessary to enjoy teaching in the classroom and be an effective communicator and educator, including:

  • How to plan your classes
  • What aids do you need to help your teaching?
  • Projecting your voice and being easily heard and understood
  • Assessing your audience’s way of thinking and understanding, so you can adapt your teaching to their way of comprehending
  • Using language for easy comprehension for your audience
  • How to lead a variety of teaching styles – lecture, brainstorming, discussion, sharing circles, paired work etc.
  • How to use questions to make students think, and how to use students’ questions to bring in relevant insights and teaching
  • How to hold and counsel students and groups experiencing emotions
  • Setting and giving feedback on homework
  • Looking at your personal blocks to being an effective communicator

Plenty of practice

This course will be limited to a small group, so there is time for all participants to practice these skills. Further weekend courses in 2027 will enable you to develop your skills further, and if there is demand focusing on teaching cooking.

Who can join this course?

To join the programme you should:

  • Have a genuine enthusiasm for teaching the knowledge, cooking and lifestyle that macrobiotics offers.

  • Have completed at least one year of study at the International Macrobiotic School or an equivalent studies elsewhere.

Dates and times

Begins with supper at 6pm on Friday 4th and ends at 4pm on Sunday 6th.

Fees for the course

The cost of the course is £225, with an early bird of £195 for payment before September 30th. This includes teaching, 3 meals a day and extensive teaching notes for you to use in teaching your own classes. This can be split into two monthly payments. If you need accommodation at the school you need to book this separately.
